Your not alone any way

This work is a tribute to the figure of Francesca Alinovi, an Italian art-critic who was active until her murder in 1983. With the investigations into the case, the inscription "your not alone any way" left in red lipstick on Alinovi's mirror became known. A poorly written, but nevertheless disturbing message, it reminds us that we are never really alone, not even at night, when our perception of the other falls into the nocturnal silence. the visitor is shown the short circuit that occurs between the place dedicated to sharing and perception of the work, outside the box, where the concept of intimacy falls, the latter violated by the sound reproduced inside the box itself. The sounds reproduced inside this obelisk are a series of nocturnal recordings obtained by applying contact microphones to the membrane of a drum which, having a light bulb inside it, attracted insects to land on its surface. The sound of a micro-tap thus becomes serious, like an absence that becomes present in its memory. in most cases an obelisk is not placed in the same place as it was created. It is therefore a cultural element dispossessed of its context, as this episode of Italian crime formalized and placed in Hasselt, Belgium.
